Cam Newton is a Strong Fit

The contrast in style between going from Tom Brady at quarterback to a player with the skill-set of Cam Newton is significant. For the Patriots, they have embraced the 2015 NFL MVP’s versatility so far.

There were countless situations when Newton’s presence gave pause to Dolphins defenders in run support. His ability to deceive the defense with handoff exchanges and fakes will be a real asset for the Patriots in the ground game.

The most productive rusher for the Patriots ended up being Newton. He recorded 15 carries and managed to pick up 75 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Taking it a step further, Newton arguably outperformed the Dolphins in the rushing department by himself. They recorded 87 rushing yards but did so on 12 more carries and had half the volume of touchdowns.
