The Dallas Cowboys pulled off an incredible comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season. Using a field goal attempt as the game clock expired, the Cowboys won with 40-39 being the final score.
Early in the game, the Falcons came out hot and jumped out to a 20-0 lead through the end of the opening quarter. The Cowboys didn’t manage to get on the board until later in the second quarter but managed to score 10 points before halftime — setting up a 29-10 lead for Atlanta.
The Falcons found themselves struggling to get anything going offensively in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the Cowboys scored a pair of touchdowns of their own. Dallas trailed just 29-24 leading into the final period and with all of the momentum going their way.
There was no let up from the Cowboys in their comeback effort. After turning it over on downs early in the fourth quarter, Dallas managed to score on their remaining trio of possessions. The Cowboys used a pair of touchdown drives and an onside recovery to set up the game winning field goal.
