1. Jaguars’ Defense Must Improve
The Jaguars have gone from having one of the league’s best defenses to being one of its worst in a span of just a few seasons. While they have talent, there are a lot of holes in this defense. One big issue is Jacksonville’s secondary.
In Week 1, Philip Rivers had over 350 passing yards. While the Jaguars did get a couple of interceptions, the secondary still didn’t play well overall. Against the Titans, they were even worse, allowing Ryan Tannehill to throw four touchdowns. One player who was being picked on, in particular, was safety Andrew Wingard.
The Jaguars’ defensive front did a good job of limiting Derrick Henry in the running game but proved to be disappointing in the pass rush department. Aside from the lone K’Lavon Chaisson sack, Tannehill had all day to throw., which is troubling when considering Jacksonville has good pass rushers.
Jaguars fans shouldn’t panic as the defense has a lot of young talent. In his NFL debut, CJ Henderson was very impressive while Chaisson got his first sack this week, and did a good job against the Colts. Also, Josh Allen is a very good leader in the locker room and is one of the best young edge rushers in the league. He was obviously not 100-percent against Tennessee.
There are some holes, but this Jaguars defense has potential. Early in the year, we may see some growing pains.
