Despite a delay due to Cam Newton testing positive for Covid-19, the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs managed to face off in Week 4 of the 2020 NFL season. It was the reigning Super Bowl champions that came out on top— winning with 26-10 being the final score.
The Patriots managed to hold their own initially in this game— keeping the Chiefs out of the end-zone during the whole first half. Kansas City made a pair of field goals and that was it. New England trailed 6-3 at halftime as a result.
It was the second half when the Chiefs managed to establish somewhat of a rhythm. A touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Tyreek Hill in the third quarter extended their lead to 13-3 entering the final period.
There was initially some fight from the Patriots as they scored a touchdown early in the final period— making it 13-10 with the Chiefs on top. However, failing to keep Kansas City out of the end-zone then throwing a pick-six ruined whatever momentum New England had established.
The Chiefs now hold a 4-0 record with this victory entering a Week 5 matchup with the Raiders. Meanwhile, the Patriots will look to get Cam Newton back in the lineup when they take on the Broncos.
