4. Patriots’ Offense Displayed Real Potential
The level of execution the Seahawks’ offense displayed created a paper-thin margin for error for the Patriots in this matchup. Even when factoring in the pick-six New England managed to pull off at the beginning of this game, Seattle raised the bar high for the Patriots’ offense.
The Patriots’ offense put together a genuinely strong outing and it was masterful for them to be in position to win. Finishing with 464 total yards of offense and going 7-of-12 (58.3%) on 3rd down conversions was impressive. There were some plays New England would like to have back, but regardless, they were impressive.
One can’t mention the Patriots’ offense without highlighting how Julian Edelman finished with eight catches for 179 yards. Meanwhile, New England had two other receivers — Damiere Byrd and N’Keal Harry — finish with 72 yards apiece. They already have strong chemistry with Cam Newton.
Putting up strong results against a tough Seahawks defense that has real playmakers was a real display of the Patriots’ potential. It’s something they can build on going forward and with a Week 4 matchup the Chiefs coming up, New England will need it.
