Cam Newton and the New England Patriots came into Week 3 with a very intriguing matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on the schedule. After knocking off the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, the Raiders were hoping to make another statement win.
Unfortunately for Jon Gruden and the Raiders, the Patriots dominated this game from start to finish. New England ended up winning the game by a final score of 36-20.
New England offense looked quite a bit different from the pass-heavy offense we all saw in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Newton threw for just 162 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Sony Michel led the way on the ground with nine carries for 117 yards, while Rex Burkhead scored two rushing touchdowns and had 49 yards on six carries.
For the Raiders, Derek Carr put together a solid game, completing 24 of his 32 passes for 261 yards, two touchdowns, and no picks. Josh Jacobs carried the ball 16 times for 71 yards.
All of that being said, let’s take a look at four major takeaways from the Raiders vs. Patriots matchup in Week 3.
