2. No Deep Ball Threat in Philly
The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2020-21 season with hopes of showcasing an explosive offense. With Miles Sanders in the backfield, it was time for QB Carson Wentz to finally showcase his arm. Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, Greg Ward, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, and rookie Jalen Reagor were the ones to make the amazing plays.
So far this season, the receivers have not done their job. A huge part of that should be placed on the shoulders of Carson Wentz and the offensive playcalling.
Why haven’t the Eagles taken advantage of the speed they have on the outside? What was the purpose of bringing Jackson back and drafting Reagor? This was a game where they desperately needed a quick strike and they failed to deliver, again.
Against the Rams, the Eagles did not connect or even pose a threat with a deep pass. Wentz (242 yards, 2 INTs) used the middle of the field or they were stuck dumping off with little screen-plays and quick drops that defenses have become accustomed to from a Doug Pederson-led team.
