Perhaps the biggest storyline in the NFL during the offseason was the decision by Tom Brady to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His first performance came against the New Orleans Saints and was highly anticipated.
The Buccaneers began their performance by scoring a touchdown on their opening drive but came up empty for far too long. Tampa Bay trailed 24-7 in the second half after Brady threw an interception that Janoris Jenkins caught and managed to take to the house.
After jumping out to a double-figure lead, the Saints managed to keep their advantage. By the time the clock read triple-zeros, New Orleans won with 34-23 being the final score.
Last season, the Saints managed to win both matchups with the Buccaneers and finished 5-1 against the NFC South. Beginning the season with a win over Tampa Bay could go a long way in New Orleans repeating as winners of the division once again.
With that being said, let’s take a look at four major takeaways from the New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers matchup in Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season.
