Bucs’ Offense Must Clean it Up
Going up against a talented Saints defense that had substantial continuity was never going to be an easy matchup for the Buccaneers. Not having the preseason to work through only made it more difficult for Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers’ defense managed to contain the Saints to 5-of-15 (33.3%) on 3rd down conversions, giving the offense enough chances. Giving up 27 points is not necessarily acceptable for a defense to quality as a ‘strong’ outing, but against an elite offense, it was a solid outing.
There were more than enough chances for the Buccaneers to take control of this game through their offense. Throwing a pick-six and having 3 turnovers overall put Tampa Bay’s chances to come out with a win in jeopardy.
There’s plenty the Buccaneers’ offense will need to work through. Getting Mike Evans healthy will be important, but cutting down on turnovers and fielding a more impressive output as a whole will be crucial.
