4. Tre’Quan Smith Shined for Saints
It was clear the Saints needed every member of its offense to step up with Michael Thomas being sidelined due to injury. New Orleans turned to Alvin Kamara more than they usually do and he thrived with 174 all-purpose yards and a pair of touchdowns.
As for the wide receiver position, one might have expected Emmanuel Sanders to slide over into the No. 1 receiver role in Thomas’ place and achieve strong results. Instead, it was Tre’Quan Smith that managed to have a big game for New Orleans.
By the time the game was over, Smith had already hauled in five passes of the seven targets thrown his way. While he didn’t end up getting into the end-zone, he did produce a solid 86 yards.
The ideal scenario for the Saints obviously is for Thomas to return to the lineup as soon as possible. In the meantime, Smith will be able to play. a more prominent role and could show off the strides he’s made in the player development department.
