2. Saints Need More from Drew Brees
There was a lot of talk about the Saints running it back with Drew Brees at quarterback to make one final push for a Super Bowl victory before he retires. So far, he hasn’t been impactful enough to be able to lead New Orleans to such an achievement.
When looking just at the stats, Brees’ stat line in this matchup doesn’t appear to have been too underwhelming on the surface. He completed 26-of-38 (68.4%) pass attempts, 312 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. A good chunk of those yards came
Brees had some plays that displayed a concerning lack of velocity and accuracy on throws throughout the game. One of the pivotal mistakes the Saints’ QB had was a bizarre interception — providing a boost for the Raiders.
The ceiling for the Saints’ offense is substantially lowered if Brees is unable to provide the contributions we have grown accustomed to seeing from him. New Orleans could even struggle to win the NFC South if that were to end up being the case.
