The Houston Texans Went For It…But Came Up Short

Despite getting off to a slow start in this game, the Houston Texans rallied back and had a real chance to win. In fact, it was more than just a chance.

With the Texans taking a 36-29 lead with 1:50 remaining in the fourth quarter, Houston was faced with a decision to go for a traditional extra point or attempt the two-point conversion. Houston went for the two points and came up empty.

As ESPN Staff Writer Sarah Barshop noted, the Texans had a 98.1% chance of winning by going for two-points in that situation— a change of win probability by just -0.1% compared to going for the traditional extra-point kick.

The Texans’ choice to go for the two-point conversion was a classic case of it being a great decision if it works or a bad choice if it didn’t pan out. DeShaun Watson was just unable to connect with a target on the pass attempt
