4. Titans’ Special Teams Came Up Big

There aren’t many instances when a team’s special teams unit receives much credit aside from when a crazy sequence happens like an onside kick recovery. The Titans are certainly an exception to this typical occurrence.

The Titans received genuinely flawless execution from Stephen Gostowski in the field goals department. He managed to convert on a career-high six field goals and even managed to hit on a 55-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter to help lock in the win.

It wasn’t just field goals that proved to be important contributions from the Titans’ special teams unit. Tennessee managed block a Vikings field goal attempt in the third period — proving to be a critical difference-maker in a game where the outcome was decided by a single point.

When factoring in all of the contributions the Titans’ special teams provided when coupled with their offensive results, it helped to overcome what was an underwhelming defensive outing.
