2. Kirk Cousins Looked Horrible

There was a real need for Kirk Cousins to elevate his game this season. The Vikings simply will be unable to take the next step until he’s able to accomplish this. So far, he has underwhelmed with his outing against the Colts being genuinely troubling.

Any time a quarterback goes out and completes just 11 pass attempts off 26 attempts, it’s concerning. Factor in that he came up empty in the touchdown department and was picked off three times, it’s difficult to have many favorable things to say.

It’s too early to panic when it comes to Cousins’ performance. As he showed in 2019, he’s capable of turning around an underachieving start to the season. However, making that a habit lowers Minnesota’s ceiling when it comes to competing in the NFC North.

The Colts’ defense deserves credit for the execution they displayed in this matchup. Indianapolis was paper-thin in the secondary from a depth perspective and they managed to overcome that against a talented Vikings offense.
