Alexander Mattison Stepped Up In A Major Way

The Vikings’ offense relies heavily on the impact that Dalvin Cook is able to provide out of the backfield. While that may contribute to potential durability concerns, the fact remains, he led the NFL in rushing entering this performance for good reason.

When Cook’s performance ended early due to injury, it was crucial someone managed to step up in his place. Filling such a large void is not an easy thing to achieve, particularly midway through a game.

Alexander Mattison managed to go above and beyond just simply filling in for Cook. In fact, he received 23 touches and managed to gain a total of 136 total yards from scrimmage in the process. The Vikings were able to continue relying on the ground game without a dropoff.

Mattison showcased the potential the Vikings saw in him when he was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
