4. Washington’s Offense Continues to Underwhelm
At the current stage the Washington Football Team is currently at offensively, they will need their defense to set the tone. If that fails to happen, there won’t be nearly enough scoring for them to compete against many opponents.
With Terry McLaurin being the exception, Washington simply did not receive enough standout performances on offense. While there were a few big plays from other options — mostly Steven Sims Jr. — it just wasn’t enough to give the team a fighting chance.
It’s becoming growingly evident that Dwayne Haskins lacks the type of skill-set that can transcend an underwhelming supporting cast. It’s simply inexcusable for Washington to go scoreless for an entire half, regardless of the opponent. Then, to follow it up with just three points in the third period isn’t nearly enough output to get back into a game.
It shouldn’t take 12 points in the final quarter to lose by 15 points. To make matters worse, that lack of execution came against a Cardinals team that may have improved from what they were a season ago, but haven’t quite solidified themselves yet.
