The Jacksonville Jaguars Blew A Potential Comeback
After pulling off a touchdown drive early in the fourth quarter, the Jacksonville Jaguars faced a 20-14 disadvantage. At this point, it was crucial for the defense to get a stop to give the offense a chance to potentially take the lead.
Instead, the Houston Texans used a 38-yard pass from Deshaun Watson to Brandin Cooks to reach field goal range. The Jaguars prevented a touchdown, but gave up three point— creating a 23-14 disadvantage with 7:39 left to play.
The Jaguars still had a real chance to win at this point. However, on 3rd & 15 on their own side of the field, Gardner Minshew was strip sacked— giving possession to the Texans.
Another breakdown in coverage from the Jaguars’ defense occurred with Cooks being the beneficiary. Watson connected with Cooks for a 28-yard touchdown. Now, the game was practically over with Houston holding a 30-14 lead with 4:39 remaining.
A costly turnover proved from the Jaguars on their own side of the field was all that was needed to spoil a potential comeback. That level of poor execution is simply inexcusable.
