Drew Brees’ Play Has Been Inconsistent
There have been some real ups and downs when it comes to the quarterback play of the New Orleans Saints so far this season. That was on full display from Drew Brees against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Against the Chargers, Brees had completed 33-of-47 (70.2%) pass attempts for 325 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He ended up being outplayed by Justin Herbert.
Brees is known as being one of the best to ever do it at his position but has shown some real signs of arm strength limitation throughout games. This particularly occurred on the pick he threw.
Getting Michael Thomas back into the lineup will clearly help Brees. He throws the lowest average intended air yards among all starting quarterbacks and Thomas thrives in short and intermediate yardage situations.
Thomas will help to mask some of the limitations of Brees’ arm strength, bu regardless, not being able to succeed on deep shots downfield will hurt the Saints come playoff time.
