4 major X-Factors to watch from the Eagles vs. Washington matchup in Week 1

Eagles, Washington Football Team
NFL Analysis Network

This Week 1 NFC East matchup is one-sided on paper. The Philadelphia Eagles will contend in the NFC while Washington is in a major rebuilding stage. Both teams made some big moves in the offseason and will rely on their top players.

Philadelphia made major improvements to their secondary. They made a trade for Darius Slay which gives them one of the top corners in the league. The Eagles have dealt with some injuries, especially to their receiving corps. Alshon Jeffery is still dealing with an injury while first round pick Jalen Reagor is expected to miss this Week 1 matchup.

For Washington, their young talent will have to take over. They used the No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft on Chase Young. He is just another piece on what should be a strong defensive line. This will be the strong area in Washington while their offense will struggle.

Washington has plenty of young pieces on offense but it will take time to come together. Their rebuild will go beyond this season but head coach Ron Rivera could make it happen quickly.

When these teams take the field during Week 1, there will be no fans in FedEx Field. There are x-factors to watch for each team and here are four major ones to keep an eye on.
