Both the Jaguars and Colts enter the season in two very different positions. Indianapolis is looking to compete for a Super Bowl within a short win-now window with Philip Rivers at quarterback. Meanwhile, Jacksonville appears positioned to win the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes.

While the Jaguars may have moved on from plenty of key players in recent years, the ones still on the roster aren’t in the tanking business. In fact, no NFL player is. So expect Jacksonville to still compete, no matter who they face.

With a fellow AFC South rival on the slate, the Jaguars will be especially motivated to prove they aren’t bound to finish last in the division. Meanwhile, the Colts will look to get off to a strong start to begin their efforts of earning a playoff spot.
