1. Baker Mayfield
The outlook for the Browns’ offense is bleak if Baker Mayfield is unable to find his form at quarterback. It could take time for him to find a rhythm with yet another new head coach leading the team, but at some point, his talent needs to transcend excuses.
In Week 1, Mayfield put together a truly underwhelming performance against the Ravens. He completed just 21-of-39 (53.8%) pass attempts resulting in 189 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
The Bengals are not an easy defense to go up against but the unit is certainly a more favorable matchup than the Ravens. Mayfield needs to get the job done for the Browns to avoid falling to 0-2 to start the season.
It’s going to be difficult to point towards much of any other part of the Browns’ roster until Mayfield can raise his game. As a recent No. 1 pick, the expectations are high, and rightfully so. Against a rookie quarterback, he can’t afford to get outplayed.
