Russell Gage
Arguably the biggest breakout performance in Week 1, Gage and the Falcons lit up the Seahawks’ secondary in the loss. Along with Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, all three had nine receptions for over 100 yards, with Gage notching 114 yards.
Now, you expect over 100 yards from Jones, probably wouldn’t be surprised to see Ridley get those numbers, but Gage had a career day, a new career-high in receptions, targets and yards.
Against a secondary like the Cowboys, who gave up 269 yards to the Rams last week, getting a guy like Russell Gage involved is crucial for the Falcons. Dallas will be forced to focus more on Jones, and even on Ridley, and that should open up some mismatches for Gage.
The run game is clearly not there for the Falcons and being able to get the passing game going like they did in Week 1 will be the key to Atlanta’s success.
