Christian Kirksey
While the Packers’ defense wasn’t great in Week 1, one of the bright spots was Christian Kirksey. When Blake Martinez left the Packers to sign with the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason, they lost one of the top tacklers in the league. But after Kirksey’s Week 1 performance, it seems the Packers have their replacement.
Kirksey had six solo tackles and six tackle assists, good for 12 total tackles in his first game as a Packer. Kirksey hadn’t played a full season since 2017 with Cleveland, but he came in and was the best linebacker on the field for the Packers against Minnesota.
No Kenny Golladay again for the Lions might mean more of a focus on the rushing game, especially after what Adrian Peterson was able to produce last week.
If the Packers want to contain the Lions’ run game, Kirksey will certainly make a difference, with no Kenny Clark on the defensive front either.
