4. Mike Evans
Mike Evans was dealing with a hamstring injury leading up to the opener in New Orleans. He was a game-time decision and ended up being active for the game. Evans was active but not productive. It was clear early on that Evans would be used as a decoy because he was not 100%. He did end up catching a two-yard touchdown at the end of the game.
The Buccaneers’ receiving duo is one of the top in the league. Chris Godwin finished with six catches for 79 yards in the opener. Having Evans on the field opens up Godwin because they have to account for both elite options. Evans is still the No. 1 option.
Evans has finished with 1,000 yards in every season since he entered the league. If healthy, that will continue this season and it will begin in Week 2.
As of now, Evans is healthy and should be ready to go against the Panthers. This will allow the Buccaneers’ offense to open up a bit and get the ball downfield more. The Panthers’ defense will have a tough day if Evans is back to his normal self.
