In this guide, we’re taking you through some of the best NFL Super Bowl moments ever. We know, there will always be a lot of debate about what the very best are. Plus, if you support one of the teams to have won the Lombardi trophy then you will definitely have rose-tinted memories about certain years!

The Super Bowl is one of the most-watched sporting events in the world and it is always a huge day in the US when the event rolls around. It’s also a huge day for gambling, whether you are looking to bet on NFL picks against the spread or you are looking to less mainstream markets to give you the best value. Millions of viewers watch in the hope they’ve called the game right.

The last Super Bowl included some exciting moments with Patrick Mahomes cementing his place as one of the best of all time, but we’re going into the history vaults for these great highlights. Let’s dive into some of the greatest moments for you to relive.

Butler’s Goal-Line Interception

In 2015, Tom Brady won his fourth Super Bowl, but he wasn’t the one to take the headlines this time as we saw one of the most thrilling finales you can imagine.

An amazing catch by Jermaine Kearse had taken the Seahawks up to the goal line as they were down by four with almost half a minute to spare. Everyone was ready for Marshawn Lynch to take the ball and run it for the win, but Seattle had other ideas as they made the strange decision to pass. Malcolm Butler made the interception to effectively finish the game and guide the New England Patriots to the win.

Santonio Holmes Wins It At The Death

The Steelers managed to win their sixth Super Bowl in 2009. At the time, this was the most any team had ever managed to win. They did so by beating the Cardinals, but it took some late drama.

Larry Fitzgerald’s two touchdowns had them ahead by three as we approached the very end of the game, but Ben Roethlisberger dragged them back into it, pushing his team forward and perfectly throwing for Holmes to take the ball into the endzone with less than a minute left to play. Cue the wild celebrations.

Norwood Kicks Wide

Sometimes you see a sporting mishap and just have to feel sorry for the individual involved. This memory stretches back as far as 1981 and won’t be forgotten by Buffalo Bills fans.

Scott Norwood had barely done anything wrong all season, but when he attempted a field goal with just seconds left and missed, he lost the Super Bowl for his team. The kick was from 47 yards out just as time was about to expire.

The Bills lost to the Giants as a result. The game finished at an excruciating 20-19 — well, excruciating for the Bills. They would go on to lose four times in a row in the NFL Super Bowl, but this one is the one that sticks in the memory. There have even been articles written speculating about what would have happened if that kick hadn’t gone wide right.

The Titans Fall Short… By One Yard

This is another haunting memory for certain individuals who are left to wonder “what if.”

The Titans had shown an amazing spirit to come from 16 points down against the St Louis Rams and looked like they might complete the comeback. They needed a touchdown to take the 2000 Super Bowl (XXXIV) to overtime.

All the momentum was with them, and the Rams were at the 10-yard line with just seconds remaining. Quarterback Steve McNair managed to find Kevin Dyson just three yards from the endzone and it seemed like the rest was a formality. However, linebacker Mike Jones had other ideas. Somehow, he managed to find an inspired tackle and dropped Dyson just a yard short of the line. The Rams managed to hold on for their win.

The Rams’ Mike Jones is known for making the most famous tackle in the history of the Super Bowl.

“Everyone asks, ‘Does it bother you that you’re known for making one play?'” said Jones in an
interview decades later. “It could be a whole lot worse. I could be known for missing the tackle. It’s
great. It brought some notoriety and helped my foundation to raise money for different things.”

What do you think of our list? Are there moments you would have added to this article or are you in agreement about these incredible plays? The NFL has had a lot of great Super Bowl moments.
