4 perfect offensive targets for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason

Charles Clay

For starters, it’s a legitimate possibility that Jason Witten chooses to play for another team besides the Cowboys in 2020. The 37-year-old tight end is an unrestricted free agent and new head coach Mike McCarthy has shown no signs of keeping him.

After coming out of retirement, Witten was able to produce 63 receptions for 529 yards and four touchdowns. In the event that Witten departs in free agency, the Cowboys could peruse the market for a veteran tight end.

Going into the offseason, it remains to be seen if Blake Jarwin is Dallas’ answer at tight end. Even if he is, someone like Charles Clay wouldn’t be a terrible addition to the offense.

Clay played with the Arizona Cardinals and only recorded 18 catches, 237 yards, and one touchdown in 2019. Despite his diminutive numbers, Clay is capable of producing as a receiver when healthy and given an opportunity.
