The Packers Defense

In their first game, the Lions faced a quality defense in the Chicago Bears, and heading into Week 2, they will be facing the same thing.

For starters, the Packers have two great edge rushers in Za’Darius smith and Preston Smith. Last season, the Smith brothers combined to finish with 25.5 sacks on the season.

Not only do the Packers have two great edge rushers in the Smith brothers, but they also have a great secondary as well. At safety, the Packers have the likes of Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage, both of whom are good safeties.

At cornerback, the Packers have multiple young corners like Kevin King, Josh Jackson, and the best of them all, Jaire Alexander. Jaire is a very aggressive cornerback, which sometimes results in him making mistakes, but other times results in him making incredible plays.

The other key part to this Packers defense is their defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. Pettine is one of the more creative defensive coordinators in the NFL and will often let his pass rushers line up in a multitude of different places along the line.

The Packers may be without Kenny Clark, but with the players they have and the creativity that Mike Pettine deploys, this defensive will make it very hard on the Lions.
