It took two quarters, but the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to figure out Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans on Sunday.
The Steelers outscored the Texans 11-0 in the second half, holding the ball for more than 20 minutes, on the way to a 28-21 win at Heinz Field and a 3-0 start to the 2020 season.
Houston took a four-point lead into the locker room at halftime before the Steelers took the lead for good when running back James Conner capped off a 12-play drive with a 12-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter. The Texans only crossed over into Steelers territory once over the final 30 minutes, and that drive ended in a Watson interception.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger finished the game with 237 yards passing and two touchdowns, one to tight end Eric Ebron and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Watson also threw two touchdowns, including Randall Cobb‘s first score in a Texans uniform, but was shut out by the Steelers defense in the second half.
Pittsburgh is now undefeated through three games for the first time in ten years. Houston, meanwhile, is 0-3 and facing a significant hurdle to get back to the postseason for the third straight year.
