Mike Evans is slated to hit free agency next month, and when he does, he will represent one of the best players on the market.

Matt Babich of Player Profiler wrote a piece outlining Evans’ upcoming free agency, and in the article, he listed four potential destinations for the star wide receiver.

Those landing spots are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders and Detroit Lions. Babich goes on to predict that Evans will remain with the Buccaneers.

He specifically states that he thinks Tampa Bay will slap a franchise tag on Evans, but that the two sides will agree on a short-term deal.

Evans is coming off of a terrific 2023 campaign in which he played all 17 games and hauled in 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and a league-leading 13 touchdowns en route to his fifth Pro Bowl appearance.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M, was selected by the Bucs with the seventh overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Evans immediately stamped his name among the best wide outs in football, catching 68 passes for 1,051 yards and 12 scores during his rookie year.

Overall, Evans has posted 1,000 receiving yards in all 10 of his professional season, which is an NFL record. His best campaign came in 2018, when he snared 86 balls for 1,524 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Galveston, Tx. native has been a critical part of the Buccaneers’ offense for the last decade, so it comes as no surprise that Babich expects Tampa Bay to retain him.

Plus, the Bucs have just under $44 million in cap space heading into the offseason (per Spotrac), so there should be plenty of room to pay Evans.

Mike Evans and the Buccaneers went 9-8 and won the NFC South division title this past season. They lost to the Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
