Odell Beckham Jr. has always been a name mentioned in trade rumors, and this year is no different. Beckham is currently a member of the Cleveland Browns, but his role with the team is wildly inconsistent. At the same time, he’s been unable to remain healthy since joining Cleveland back in 2019, and he’s failed to build a rapport with Baker Mayfield.
There’s no doubt that Beckham’s trade value is nowhere near where it once was when he was on a historic pace to begin his career. That being said, there are still teams that would love to add the three-time Pro Bowler to bolster their receiving corps.
With the NFL trade deadline taking place on November 2nd, here are four teams who should try to acquire Beckham from the Browns.
San Francisco 49ers
Before Beckham ended up on the Browns, the San Francisco 49ers were among the teams rumored to have interest in the electric wideout. While he hasn’t looked like the same player he once was, Kyle Shanahan may still have interest in adding him to the offense.
Deebo Samuel is a stud at wide receiver, but Brandon Aiyuk has shockingly seen his role diminish exponentially following a productive rookie season in 2020. With Aiyuk seemingly being in Shanahan’s doghouse, Beckham could become a decent No. 2 option alongside Samuel.
Whether it is Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance under center, they would find ways to target the former Pro Bowler.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are fully aware of just how dominant Odell Beckham Jr. can be when he was with the New York Giants. Time has passed since he was on track to become one of the NFL’s best wide receivers, but he’s still an upgrade over some of Philadelphia’s current options.
DeVonta Smith is going to blossom into a star in the future. But aside from Smith, the Eagles aren’t getting much out of Jalen Reagor or Quez Watkins in the passing game. What makes a trade for Beckham a bit of a concern for the Eagles is the fact that they are in a rebuilding stage as they are non-committal on Jalen Hurts being their franchise quarterback of the future.
If the Eagles want to make a big splash at wide receiver, making a trade with the Browns for Beckham would be a perfect move to make.
Green Bay Packers
It feels like this could be Aaron Rodgers’ final season with the Green Bay Packers, even though there’s still a chance he returns for next season. When the Rodgers’ saga ended this offseason, the Packers acquired Randall Cobb to appease the All-Pro quarterback. But with Rodgers not having much to work with outside of Davante Adams, maybe Green Bay officially goes all in to try and aid the veteran signal-caller in hopes of reaching the Super Bowl?
The Packers don’t need an alpha wide receiver, they just need someone that can take some pressure off of Adams. With quite a few NFC teams having deep receiving corps, Green Bay could use Odell Beckham Jr. to aid them in being able to keep up with other teams in the conference. Depending on the price tag the Browns have, the Packers should strongly consider this option.
Washington Football Team
There’s no secret that the Washington Football Team realizes that they need help at wide receiver. Curtis Samuel was supposed to be a key addition to the offense, but he’s been injured for the majority of this season. So with Samuel sidelined, Terry McLaurin is in a spot where he’s being asked to carry nearly the entire workload at wide receiver.
With Dyami Brown and Adam Humphries being the best options aside from McLaurin, Beckham could be of use for Washington. Also, with Taylor Heinicke and Ryan Fitzpatrick being quarterbacks that aren’t afraid to make risky throws — for better or worse — Beckham would be an ideal fit.
