4 Way Too Early Reasons The Browns Will Make The Playoffs In 2020

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Defense

The Browns’ 2019 defense was not as bad as their ranking will suggest. In 2019, they finished the year ranked 7th in passing yards allowed and 8th in interceptions. The Browns’ secondary was an underrated unit in 2019.

One area they will need to concentrate more on this season will be attacking the quarterback. The Browns’ front line produced just 38 sacks on the season. This year, the defense will come in hungrier than ever before. Myles Garrett will look to make up for time lost and with the Browns going defense-heavy in the 2020 NFL Draft, they understand the importance of improvement.

Aside from getting to the QB, the other main area of concern for the Cleveland Browns was stopping the run. In 2019, the Browns surrendered 144.7 yards per game on the ground. To remedy that, the Browns went inside the division and snatched Andrew Billings from the Cincinnati Bengals. His presence will provide a roadblock in the middle which should allow the ends to do their job.
