49ers: 3 Offensive Players Key to Week 14 vs. Broncos

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Dante Pettis

Pettis was the star of the show for the 49ers in Seattle. A week after enjoying a career day in Tampa Bay, the former Washington Huskies wide receiver produced another on his homecoming to the Pacific Northwest. The second-round rookie caught five passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, making it three scores in the last two games for Pettis, who has shaken off the knee injury that has hindered much of his much of his debut pro campaign.
His ability to make things happen after the catch stood out, specifically on a 75-yard catch and run that marked his second touchdown, while he again demonstrated the ability to engineer separation with his craft and intelligence as a route-runner.
Pettis may find space easier to come by with speedster Marquise Goodwin set to return to face a Denver secondary minus its best corner in Chris Harris. Goodwin may well eat into his number of targets, but the way in which he can stretch the field may make life much easier for Pettis underneath. If that proves the case and both thrive, then the Niners will have a much better chance of ending their winless run and more reason to be excited about that receiver duo going into 2019.
