Turnovers and Miscommunications continue to kill the 49ers
To say it was an ugly game is an understatement.
The offense turned the ball over five times, gave up four sacks and failed on every point after attempt. It doesn’t stop with the offense either as the defense gave up a touchdown on the first play against the Cardinals offense on a 75-yard touchdown pass from Josh Rosen to Christian Kirk. And to add insult to injury, they missed a field goal.
Beathard is credited for four of the turnovers on the game, but he should only be responsible for half of them.
The first was the interceptions mentioned above that was caused by Pierre Garçon dropping the ball. The next was because of a strip-sack caused by Chandler Jones. That one was because of Joe Staley being slow against the Pro Bowl pass-rusher.
Beathard is responsible for the other two as he held the ball too long on his second fumble that went back for a touchdown. Then the second interception is because of him not seeing the safety when being pressured in the pocket. That last turnover would result in a touchdown for the Cardinals offense.
The offense gave up three turnovers that all resulted in touchdowns. That’s not going to win football games if the 49ers keep making these mistakes.
The team has a turnover differential of -8 through five games and are in need of reminding themselves of how to take care of the ball.
