The 2019 season saw the San Francisco 49ers breakout. After a 4-12 campaign in 2018, the Niners skyrocketed to 13-3 with Jimmy Garoppolo back from a torn ACL. They finished the season with an NFC West title and the No. 1 seed in the conference.

San Francisco held the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. They landed Ohio State pass rusher Nick Bosa. He finished with nine sacks and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year. Bosa was a huge factor in taking the defense to the next level. He created a dominant force up front with Arik Armstead and DeForest Bucker. The 49ers traded Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts but were able to ink Armstead to a five-year, $85 million deal.

The 49ers picked up a pair of 17-point victories in the playoffs. They made quick work of the NFC North taking down the Minnesota Vikings first then Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. This landed them a spot in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2012.

San Francisco was seeking their first title since Steve Young in 1994. Despite holding a double-digit lead late in the game, San Francisco was unable to close the deal against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

San Francisco is hoping for a different fate in 2020. This is a team that is championship ready but will have to go through a tough NFC to accomplish their goal. Here are four bold predictions for the 49ers in 2020.
