2. Wide Receiver Goes Over 1,000 Yards
This is something that George Kittle has done for the past two years. In 2018, Kittle finished with 1,377 yards and followed that up with 1,053 yards last season. He has turned into one of the best tight ends in football but those are the key words, tight end. In 2020, it is time that the Niners finally have a wide receiver go for 1,000 yards.
Believe it or not, this is something that has not happened since 2014. Anquan Boldin finished with 1,062 yards that year. There have been some close calls. Marquise Goodwin finished with 962 yards in 2015 and Deebo Samuel logged 802 last season. In 2020, Samuel will be the No. 1 receiver followed by Kendrick Bourne and rookie Brandon Aiyuk on the depth chart.
Samuel has the potential to be a big time receiver during his second season. As a rookie, Samuel averaged 14.1 yards per reception. He showed toughness over the middle and reliability. Samuel did not act as a red zone threat only scoring three touchdowns but he could put up big yardage numbers. Let’s not forget that opposing defenses enter games against the Niners trying to stop Kittle.
Samuel will not face many double teams and he is a good enough receiver to win one-on-one battles. The 2019 season saw many rookie receivers breakout and Samuel might be the best of the bunch.
