Jimmy Garoppolo
If there’s anyone that needs to step up and do better than they did in the previous week from the 49ers it’s their starting quarterback. Not only did he throw three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) but he completed less than half of his passes.
These statistics aren’t what San Francisco is paying for. Especially for 137.5 million dollars over five years.
He’s going to need to bounce back in a big way against Detroit. Luckily enough the Lions aren’t known for their defense the same way their NFC North counterparts (the Vikings) are. They ranked sixth-worst in passing yards allowed, third-worst in passing first downs allowed, and tied for ninth-worst in completion percentage allowed in 2017.
If Garoppolo wants to show why the hype surrounding him in the offseason is real then this is the perfect time to do it. Otherwise, it’s going to be a long season of analysts shouting that he’s overrated.
