The San Francisco 49ers continued with their winning ways in Week 14. They defeated the Seattle Seahawks with relative ease, winning 28-16. That runs their winning streak up to five games, their second such streak of the season, as they now sit at 10-3.

The 49ers are in first place in the NFC, as the road to the Super Bowl right now would run through the Bay Area. There is still some time for that to change, but if the 49ers continue playing at this level, they will be hard to stop.

A big reason for their recent success has been the re-emergence of Deebo Samuel as a versatile, unstoppable weapon. Against the Seahawks, he caught seven passes for 149 yards and a touchdown, adding a one-yard touchdown run as well.

NFL News & Rumors: Deebo Samuel, Brock Purdy. San Francisco 49ers Updates

When combined with his performance in Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Samuel now finds himself in some rare company. He is the second player in NFL history to total at least 100 receiving yards and score via receiving a rushing in back-to-back games. The first player to do it was Tommy Brown in 1960 with the Eagles.

For Samuel to be that productive someone has to get him the ball through the air. That someone for the 49ers is Brock Purdy, who also found himself entering the record books on Sunday against the Seahawks.

Sunday was Purdy’s 18th start of his career. In 12 of those starts, he has recorded a passer rating of at least 100, which is tied for the second most such performances in the first 18 starts of a player’s career. Hall of Famers Dan Marino and Kurt Warner are who he is tied with, while Patrick Mahomes, with 14, is the only quarterback with more.

NFL News & Rumors: Deebo Samuel, Brock Purdy. San Francisco 49ers Updates

The victory over the Seahawks marked the seventh straight game Purdy has completed at least 70 percent of his passes and he is just the fourth quarterback to ever do so in a single season. He joins Drew Brees, Joe Montana and Sam Bradford in that feat.

If Purdy can complete 70+ percent of his passes against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15, he will tie Montana for the single-season record within a season at eight. In the first meeting between the NFC West rivals this season, Purdy went 20-of-21, so there is a good chance he will keep the streak alive this week.
