There have been a lot of different ways that Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been described since he burst onto the scene as the replacement for Jalen Hurts with Alabama in college. But, a new one was certainly added to the docket this week by San Francisco 49ers star linebacker, Fred Warner.

Warner recently spoke about the Dolphins’ signal caller and likened him to an NBA star for the role that he has within the offense. He went right to the top of the pecking order, comparing Tagovailoa to Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

“He’s like the Steph Curry of that offense. He’s the point guard. Everything tuns through Tua,” said the 49ers star.

That is certainly a bold comparison for Warner to make. Could he be making a bold prediction about what is to come for the Dolphins and Tagovailoa? Because if he is going to turn into the Stephen Curry of the NFL, other teams are going to be put on notice quickly.

Curry is one of the best basketball players to ever walk the planet. He revolutionized the game with his 3-point shooting, changing basketball as we know it forever. His resume also speaks for itself, as he has achieved things very few players ever have.

A nine-time All-Star, two-time MVP and four-time champion taking home the Finals MVP once, Curry’s accolades can stack up against almost anyone. While Tagovailoa is certainly the point guard of the Dolphins’ offense, he has a long way to go before catching Curry in accomplishments.

While certainly flattering to be mentioned in the same sentence as Curry, Tagovailoa knows that he has plenty of work to do before being mentioned with the all-time greats in football, let alone other sports. If he and the Dolphins can ever get close to producing at the level that Curry and the Warriors have, the rest of the NFL is in for some long seasons.
