Wide Receivers
If there was a weak unit on San Francisco 49ers’ offense, it would be their wide receivers. This is an area that John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have been trying to improve since they took over the team. Entering 2020, they have a group of young receivers with high ceilings.
Deebo Samuel was taken in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He put up 802 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie season. Samuel showed toughness and reliability needed in a No. 1 receiver.
Emmanuel Sanders is now with the New Orleans Saints, which means the 49ers will need other options to step up. Those options are Kendrick Bourne and Brandon Aiyuk. Bourne joined the Niners in 2017 and has scored nine touchdowns. Aiyuk was drafted with the 25th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis and Jalen Hurd will be other options off the bench. This is a young group with a lot to prove. There is a chance that they can all turn into stars and it begins with Samuel. Shanahan is a great offensive mind that will know how to get his receivers open.
