The San Francisco 49ers do not have too many key positional battles to be decided in preseason, but there is definitely greater competition for places on the roster.
This 49ers regime has already shown a knack for unearthing young players who can be immediate contributors. It is a skill that means ageing and underperforming players can not feel settled on their roster.
