With the 2023 NFL season right around the corner, teams are finishing up their final week of preseason action. Among those teams are the San Francisco 49ers, who could not be more excited about getting quarterback Brock Purdy back on the field. Unfortunately, their excitement has been tempered a bit by tough injury news that came out on Monday.

Today, news came out that talented young wide receiver Danny Green is expected to miss time due to injury. He is even expected to miss some regular season time, which is never a good thing to hear.

That news came from via Pro Football Talk.

Gray was not expected to have a large role on the stacked 49ers’ offense. However, depth is always important at the wide receiver position.

During his rookie season last year with San Francisco, Gray ended up catching just one pass for 10 yards. He also had a carry for nine yards on the ground.

At just 24 years of age, Gray has plenty of time to work his way into a bigger role. He has elite speed and playmaking ability, which should help him find his way onto the field at some point. Getting back to full health is the priority now.

This may not be a massive hit to the 49ers’ offense, but it’s certainly disappointing. San Francisco has elite playmakers all across the field, but a team can never have enough weapons. Hopefully, a quick and full recovery is in the cards for Gray.
