The San Francisco 49ers are coming off of a disappointing Week 1 loss at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals. Even though it was a hard-fought game and the Cardinals are a much better team than they were in 2019, the 49ers feel like they should have won. Jimmy Garoppolo and company have a chance to bounce back strong in Week 2 against the New York Jets.
Garoppolo and the 49ers were the best team in the NFC last season and took the Kansas City Chiefs to the wire in the Super Bowl. They have been hyped up as a Super Bowl contender again this year.
In Week 1, Garoppolo put together a strong performance in the loss. He completed 19 of his 33 pass attempts for 259 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Not a bad performance at all, but it wasn’t quite enough.
Kyle Shanahan and Garoppolo know the offense has to do more. Unfortunately, they were without wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk against the Cardinals. Samuel will be out again in Week 2, but Aiyuk should be good to go.
All of that being said, let’s take a look at what the 49ers should be expecting from Jimmy Garoppolo against the Jets this week.
