What To Expect From Jimmy Garoppolo In Week 2
Garoppolo and the 49ers are going to be out to prove a point. After losing to the Cardinals, they are going to receive criticism all week long. The bad taste of a loss will not sit well with a team hoping to make another Super Bowl run.
After a good performance against the Cardinals, Garoppolo will have a much easier matchup against the Jets. New York has a relatively weak secondary, which bodes well for the 49ers’ chances to throw the ball effectively.
With Aiyuk back on the field and George Kittle being an elite target, Garoppolo’s numbers should improve.
Shanahan didn’t find a ton of success on the ground in Week 1. Raheem Mostert led the team in rushing with 15 carries for 56 yards. Jerrick McKinnon chipped in three carries for 24 yards and Tevin Coleman had 18 yards on four carries.
The 49ers aren’t going to go away from the run, but they may ask Garoppolo to handle an even larger load against the Jets.
It would be reasonable to expect Garoppolo to rack up 300 passing yards and three touchdowns. Not having Samuel is disappointing, but the return of Aiyuk will make the 49ers’ passing game much more dangerous.
Expect to see Jimmy Garoppolo come in and put together a masterful performance against the Jets. The 49ers are going to get the win behind a big-time game from their quarterback.
