We’re lucky. Football fans, let’s count our blessings. In the year 2020, with so much uncertainty surrounding the sports and the world at large, we’re about to get the NFL back. That, in my mind, is pretty lucky. In Week 1, a great matchup that stands out is the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions squaring off.
Two teams with more than a few storylines. The Lions are getting their quarterback returning from injury with Matthew Stafford in the lineup. Meanwhile, the Bears are on life support with their returning starter, Mitchell Trubisky, entering what appears to be a make-or-break season.
The Bears will be looking to reclaim some of the defensive dominance they had in 2018 led by superstar edge rusher Khalil Mack. As for the Lions, they will be looking to find any defensive success of their own at all with Jeffrey Okudah making his NFL debut in Week 1.
Between the storylines and the high level of veteran and young talent on the field, Detroit and Chicago should be set to give us a fun game to watch.
But before they kick it off, let’s try to break it down and make some bold predictions on how the game might play out, and why some surprising moments might come to pass.
