D.K. Metcalf Outproduces Julio Jones
Julio Jones is a living legend. The 31-year-old averaged 102.8 receiving yards per game over the past seven seasons. However, Seattle’s DK Metcalf could top the veteran in a head-to-head performance on Sunday.
Metcalf also benefits from an advantageous matchup. The Falcons lack shutdown defensive backs. Safeties Damontae Kazee and Keanu Neal could offer a challenge, but the Falcons are extremely thin at cornerback.
Atlanta’s first depth chart lists Isaiah Oliver and A.J. Terrell as starting corners. Oliver has one season as a full-time starter under his belt and didn’t record an interception last year. Terrell is a rookie who could get exposed for his limited agility and straight-line speed.
No one questions that Jones is the better receiver. The Alabama product should get enshrined in Canton one day. However, Metcalf enters Week 1 with better circumstances and a better matchup.
