5 bold predictions for the Broncos vs. Patriots matchup in Week 5

The Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots in Week 5 is a matchup where both teams are trying to get their starting quarterback back on the field.

Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has tested positive for Covid-19, and missed New England’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. There is a chance Newton returns against Denver if he can produce two negative tests, 24 hours apart.

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock is dealing with a shoulder injury, and head coach Vic Fangio said there is a 50-50 chance Lock plays on Sunday. If Lock cannot play, Fangio announced Brett Rypien would start in his place.

The Broncos are coming off of their first win of the season last Thursday, a 37-28 victory over the New York Jets.

The Patriots, without Newton, lost 26-10 to the Chiefs on Monday night after their game was initially postponed. New England’s defense played well, as the Chiefs had no touchdowns in the first half, but the Patriots had to use both Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham under center.
