4. Julian Edelman Catches His First Touchdown
Julian Edelman’s numbers have been down this season, except for his week 2 outing against the Seahawks, when he had eight catches for 179 yards.
Against the Chiefs, Edelman had just three catches for 35 yards. The 34 year-old is still in search of his first touchdown on the season, and the Patriots could use a spark against Denver.
Much of this will hinge on whether Cam Newton is able to play, but even if Hoyer gets the start again, New England has to find ways to get Edelman involved.
If the Patriots will avoid falling below .500 this week, a big performance from Edelman would help take some pressure off of their quarterback — whether it’s Hoyer, Stidham, or Newton returning from a positive Covid test.
