Kyler Murray Breaks A Career-High In Rushing Yards
Kyler Murray, for as exceptional as he is both as a passer and a runner, has one monkey he still needs to shake off his back. He has yet to have a game where he’s ran for over 100 yards, but that could change in Week 4.
Murray, who came into the league in 2019 and has been one of the best running quarterbacks from day one, somehow looks like he’s an even better scrambler now than he was his rookie year. In two of his first three games of the 2020 season, he’s already put together two top-five rushing games in his career.
In Week 2 against Washington, Murray’s 67 rushing yards were tied for the fourth-most he’s even hit in a game. In Week 1, however, against a tougher San Francisco team, Murray managed 91 yards on the ground in only 13 carries– the second-highest total in his 19 game career.
Murray has never been shy about tucking the ball and running with it, and after a Week 3 upset loss in which Murray threw for three interceptions, he’ll be heading into Week 4 angry– and facing off against a Panthers defense that has allowed the 10th most yards allowed per carry this season.
It could be a career-game for Murray as a runner, as well as the first 100-yard game of his young career. It would take a couple big runs and a heavy focus from Murray to run the ball himself, but he’s proven capable of both big runs and big volume in his career. And this time, it might lead to a huge game.
