5. Joshua Kelly Will Have Over 100 Total Yards
In the 4th round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers selected UCLA running back Josh Kelly with 112th pick. After losing Melvin Gordon in the offseason and re-signing Austin Ekeler, the Chargers wanted some insurance at the running back position and so, they selected Kelly. That insurance policy will now be cashed in as Ekeler is dealing with a serious hamstring injury.
After getting hurt in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Josh Kelly filled in the role as HB1. Kelly struggled on the ground, rushing 9 times for 7 yards. He did catch 3 passes for 26 yards through the air game.
To the Buccaneers’ credit, they did a great job in the second half of containing this Chargers offense. Kelly did struggle in his debut, but I expect him to shine in primetime.
In fact, Kelly is one of my fantasy sleepers of the week as the New Orleans Saints currently allow 97.5 rushing yards per game. Kelly will find most of his production coming out of the back field as a pass catcher. I predict Kelly to have over 100 total yards scoring 1 touchdown.
