4. Sam Darnold Goes for 250 Yards
Sam Darnold has not looked like the answer at quarterback. The Jets have made some putrid draft selections at the quarterback position led by Geno Smith and of course, Christian Hackenberg in the second round.
Darnold has been less than impressive but gets somewhat of a pass because of the terrible head coach and supporting cast.
Darnold threw for 215 yards in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. He finished with 179 yards and a late touchdown pass in the dismantling at the hands of the 49ers. The Colts’ defense came alive in Week 2 after allowing Gardner Minshew to complete 19-20 passes with three touchdowns. If the Jets fall behind early, they will have to throw the ball and this could allow Darnold to rack up some yards.
It is time for the USC product to show that he has a chance of being a franchise quarterback. If you are Darnold, there cannot be any excuses. Go put up some numbers with the weapons you have. It will go a long way.
